Sending Out Prayers

Friday I learned that my idol, my favourite rock musician, a man I do admire – Bret Michaels – had been hospitalized with a brain haemorrhage. I have been upset and concerned over this issue as would be expected. Especially since the man is only 47 years old and has two young daughters. I am praying for him and will wait and see what his website states.

I admit that I have been getting my information from news reports and from TMZ.com. I shake my head at the reports I have been reading. One report states that Donald Trump has spoken with the hospital officials and the prognosis for Bret isn’t good. Trump is not family why would the hospital tell him anything? Another news report states that Bill Goldberg – the actor and wrestler who Bret has been on Celebrity Apprentice with – warned Bret the day before that his rock and roll life style was going to give him health problems. There have been more wrestlers that have died young in the last couple of years than rock musicians. Of course I don’t know if Goldberg actually said this or if Trump actually reported he had spoken with the hospital.

Then the comments from the public take all this to another level entirely. Suddenly everyone is a doctor and knows what is going to happen. Comments such as he will be a vegetable; they are only keeping him alive so his family can say good bye; he drinks too much; his smoking caused this; he’ll never perform again and the list goes on. The ignorant ones that say he should just die, that he is an old, ugly man without talent and anything like it are just a waste of space. Think of his young daughters. What if they read that?

If a celebrity I didn’t admire was going through the same thing I would just think how sad and move on. Why waste the time and energy to post something negative? Especially since it will come back on you eventually. I think that is one of the problems with the Internet. Everyone can state their opinion and speak as if they know what they are talking about. They can spread nastiness and lies if they so choose. That is not the way to live. I sometimes wonder how sad the lives of those
negative people must be.

I am going to leave the medical stuff up to the doctors that are treating Bret. After all they are the ones with the access to his brain and the tests etc. They are the ones that know how to read it. Yes there are those who have died from this and then there are those who have survived and gone on with normal lives. All we can do is hope and pray. And I am praying for Bret and his family and his friends. I hope you will too.
