Money, Money, Money

I know that the saying is that love makes the world go 'round but you gotta admit that money helps. With money we can have shelter, food, clothing, transportation and all those other little extras. Like computers and the Internet and telephone and the list goes on.

Yes money is important but it isn't the most important thing. When this worldwide recession hit people lost investments, savings, jobs, homes and a lot of other things that rely on money. Yet many have found a new hope in realizing how important their families are; how strong they actually can be and how many of the things they had were unnecessary. Many have started over and some have found a new outlook on life. If the industry they were in has suffered then perhaps they have the excitement of learning a new trade. Will we go back to the spoiled people that some of us were? More thank likely some will but hopefully others will have a better sense of what they have.

I watch people who are moaning about the fact that they have no money. However they have all the toys. Gym memberships, constantly using a vehicle instead of local transit, the latest gadgets, every television station you can imagine, drugs, smokes, booze. I watch and inwardly shake my head. When times are tough you cut back on the extras and make do with less.

Money affords us the freedom to do other things, to buy things and to live well with material things. But money is an object and how we choose to use it is what makes it valuable.
